Three people have been killed after African Union (AMISOM) troops’ tanks shelled in parts in Qoryoley town in Lower Shabelle region.
Seven people, mostly worshippers were also wounded in mortar rounds hit a mosque in the town, a witness said.
The bombing came when several Al Shabaab militants carried out an attack on African Union forces’ camp outside the town.
In the aftermath of the attack, all victims were reportedly evacuated from rubble of mosque, according to residents.
The victims have been airlifted to Mogadishu for medical facilities, paramedics said.
The African Union troops are often accused of indiscriminate shootings and bombings on residential areas in south and central Somalia.
